My ex-boss and now dear friend and someone whom I look up to as a Big Brother, Mahmad Nayeem told me of a person that could change my life and it is the kind of thing that would be just right for me.
17th of Feb, at 3.30 PM, I picked up Nayeem from Marina and we made our way to Burjuman and over there I was introduced to Naren Rajora. I was told that this person a Senior Director, achieved his career. So I was expecting to meet an elderly man and I see this Mid 30's something person with a very friendly face.
We got talking and he asked me about my dreams and aspirations and I went on and on about the places I wanted to visit, moving back to JLT (the hottest place in Dubai) and he asked me how I am going to achieve it and I said, I am still waiting for that great job which I am trying so hard to work towards. And he said what else, what about retirement, don't I want a nice car, a permanent place to live and I said what every young person says, I live on the edge not thinking about tomorrow and well that's why I was broke, like every other young person.
He then told me a story about 2 boys who carried buckets and one day started pipelines, which is really what every business is today. Well, businesses branch out in order to succeed.
He then told me to think of a big company and imagine being CEO of that company, now you have a child, can that Child ever be CEO of the same company. No way Hozey!
He then asked me if I read Robert Kiyosaki's book, Rich dad, poor dad and I said I just started to read it, I stopped as it was making me angry. He also asked me if I had watched or read the Secret and I said Yes, I am a firm believer of the secret, most times though, I get sidelined with the pressure of LIFE.
He asked me if I thought I was a networker and I said sort off. Sometimes I can bring up a conversation with a stranger and other times I am shy, eg on a plane or bus, train, elevator...
Naren then asked me if he showed me something amazing, would I stay another hour or would I leave and I opted to stay. He then explained to me some financials which until today I don't completely understand. But I was told so much about this man's caliber and I knew my ex-boss (once a CIO and then President of the company) who were doing this business, there's got to be something good to it.
Naren explained to be that in this business, I had to commit 4 years which was equivalent to 40 years and he and a team of other experts would guide me and the people I would bring in as well, he would guide them too in their journey.
I then thought to myself, I have tried so many things and failed, let me give this one more thing and this might be the one thing I will succeed at.
I asked for 3-4 days to arrange the money of 1,200 USD. I went to the bank to apply for an additional card which I got and I signed up on the 5th day on receiving the new credit card
It was a bit difficult for me to make that commitment, but it is also a small capital to start a business. I don't need an office, no trade license, and no start-up costs. So 1,200 USD wasn't going to break me.
Going back to the day I was told about the business concept, I have introduced to Naren's wonderful wife Nimisha and the rest of the team who congratulated me. When I got home, I was added to a WhatsApp group and there was a lovely welcome message from Nayeem and then congratulation messages from the team who were based in all parts of India and UAE. I then knew I was part of something special.
